Scripture: “For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory. And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and has put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” – 2 Corinthians 1:20-22 (ESV)
Alright, let’s break this down. Paul’s basically saying, “Hey, remember all those awesome things God said He’d do? Yeah, they’re not just maybes. They’re a definite ‘Yes!’ because of Jesus.” Think about that for a sec. Every single promise God has ever made – like, all of them – find their “yes” in Jesus. That’s pretty wild, right?
It’s like when you ask someone for something, and they don’t just say “maybe,” but they’re like, “Absolutely, 100% yes!” That’s what God’s doing with His promises through Jesus. There’s no wiggle room, no fine print that cancels things out. It’s a solid, rock-solid “Yes.”
And then Paul says that because of this “Yes” in Jesus, we get to say “Amen” to God. Now, “Amen” isn’t just something we say at the end of a prayer. It’s like saying, “Yep, I agree! I believe it!” It’s our way of giving God the thumbs up and saying, “We’re on board with what you’re doing, God.” It’s all for His glory, too – it’s about recognizing how awesome He is.
But here’s where it gets even cooler. Paul reminds us that it’s God who makes us stand firm in Christ. It’s not like we’re just trying really hard on our own. God is the one who’s holding us steady, keeping us connected to Jesus.
And get this – He’s anointed us. Think of it like being chosen and set apart for something special. He’s put His seal on us, like stamping us as His own. It’s like saying, “This one belongs to me, and I’m protecting them.” And the best part? He’s given us His Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. It’s like a down payment, a little taste of all the amazing stuff that’s coming. The Holy Spirit living in us is proof that God is serious about His promises and that He’s going to follow through.
So, when you’re feeling unsure or like things are up in the air, remember this: God’s promises aren’t wishy-washy. They’re a definite “Yes” through Jesus. And God Himself is the one who’s keeping us grounded and has even given us His Spirit as a solid guarantee. Pretty awesome, huh?

Father God in heaven, thank you for being so reliable. Seriously, it’s awesome to know that your promises aren’t just empty words. Thank You for Jesus, who makes every single one of them an absolute “Yes.” Help us to really believe that and to say “Amen” with our whole hearts to what you’re doing. And thank You for holding us steady, for marking us as yours, and for giving us your Spirit. It’s such a comfort knowing you’re in charge and that you’re going to come through. We trust you, Lord.
