Scripture Reading: Colossians 3:12-14 (ESV)
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”
Paul reminds us of our identity in Christ: we are chosen and dearly loved by God. Understanding this truth empowers us to embody compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience in our relationships.
Forgiveness can be challenging, yet Christ’s example encourages us to let go of grievances and extend grace to one another. Love is the essential virtue that unites and completes all these qualities, reflecting the heart of Christ in our actions.
Reflection:
Think about how you can apply these virtues today. Are there people you need to forgive? Seek God’s help to live out this love in your interactions.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank You for choosing me and loving me unconditionally. As I reflect on Your grace and forgiveness in my life, help me to embrace a heart of compassion. Teach me to show kindness in my interactions and to approach others with humility and meekness.
Lord, give me the strength to bear with those who may hurt or frustrate me. Help me to forgive as You have forgiven me, without resentment or hesitation. I pray for Your guidance as I seek to live out these virtues daily.
Above all, may Your love flow through me, binding all my actions together in unity. I want to be a reflection of Your heart to those around me, so I ask for Your wisdom and discernment in every relationship I encounter. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
